C Class lap times

just looking through the lap times, i would like to know how a "C" class rider has the best lap time of the whole race? #744, which is in the C 16-25 class had the fastest lap of the day with a 19:02, while the guy that won the PRO class, and the overall, his best lap was 19:38? 744 is either cheating, or doing some major bad sandbagging! move up, dude! you would be winning the pro class, and getting money.

Also go look at the badlands race he tied with the pro there as well. And that pro won the overall morning race the day before in GNCC. I think the staff should take a look at this. A "c" rider shouldn't be turning lap times in or near a PRO times!! Something is not right. If thats the case I request to be moved down to first year racer I may have a chance there! I'm a true "C" class rider right now. People need to pick the right class or be put in the right class.

What does the staff think about this??

I noticed that too. I came in second in C class 16-25, I'm not gonna complain as I welcome good stiff competition and I know he is real fast, I mean he has won every race he has been at this year. I just think it might be more fun for him if he moved up to a class that was on his level.

But I guess I'll just have to step it up at the next race to try hang with him. Lol.

Thank you Eric! I applaud you for your attitude on this!
As for what the staff think:
The staff has reviewed the lap times as well as the racing history and age of the C class rider and have determined that he will remain in this class for the remainder of the year.
He only raced last year 3 times. Once coming in 11th in a D class. The other 2 races, he finished 3rd and 8th in a C class. At 17 years old with only that experience racing, we put him in the C class, as we would have with ANY of you with the same age and experience at the beginning of this year.
We hope he continues racing with us next year, as he is so fun to watch! He will be moved up next year, since he has improved so much this year! Its with his hard work, practice, and determination that he has excelled in racing this year and we hope to see him become a National Pro racer someday soon!
Eric couldnt have said it better - I guess you guys need to welcome good stiff competition, step it up at the next race and try to hang with him!

I personally remember this kid from last year because of his yellow homemade bumpers and he has gotten fast this year. I am pretty sure he is not cheating. Many times people get into shape, their quads get better over the winter and they do better. They go to the class they belong to from the year before and they excel because of the hard work they have done. I do not think he is intentionally sandbagging, it just happened. I talked with other racers about this and they said he was really moving at the last race.

The C16-25 class is not the only class with this issue. All I can say is get out there and work harder.

By the way, I noticed he had the fastest lap time whole I posted the points. I talked to Cheryl about it immediately. It is weird but how can you penalize effort. If he wants to move he is welcome to but IMO, midestxc cannot force him to.

What happens if we move people to the first year class and they still get beat? I mean, there have been some people who start out racing and are very fast.

I also applaud Eric's attitude.

I know Kevin and he is a great kid who has worked really hard to get this fast in such a short time. This is his first year racing a full season so you shouldn't expect him to jump straight to pro! give a kid a break and step your game up.

I agree. Im a 1st year racer but am in the C 16-25. If i raced in the 1st year class at KY I would have won it by a lap or more. I enjoy competition and therefore would rather compete in the C than get some plaque in a rookie class. All im saying is the kids fast which is great, but it wouldnt make sense to tell 10 or 12+ guys to "step it up" if its only one guy that really should step it up to the next class.

Hey this is #744 that everyone is talking about in the C 16-25 class. Im not trying to make any enemies im just trying to have fun. I didnt run many races last year and we ran C class because that is what all the people we talked to said we should run. I would move up but I would loose all my points. I came out at the start of this year to win a championship. Ive been training, practicing, and doing all the work on my quad to be fast. When the race starts I dont run to win my class I go for the overall and that is probably why I have got so fast. I race everyone when im out there. You cant hold anything back when your racing. Points is the only issue why im not switching. I will move up next year and hope there is not any problems even if I move up. Sorry about all the trouble, and see you at the next race..

Good for you Kevin. You did start out right where you should have. And you shouldnt loose your points just because you have done better than anyone expected. Its great to see how far you have come, and you are right - you worked hard to get where you are. I for one want to see your name on the GNCC Pro class someday! Not everyone is made to go far in racing, but I see you up there not too far in the future. You have one thing helping you there - passion for the sport - its not something people learn, it comes from within. You have brought it out. Keep up the good work - Live the passion.

Well lets not stop at the 16-25 class.....If I ran 16-25 I would get wood at every race so far. BUT I run 30+(which should be slower) and I have not gotten wood yet. I am not complaining. It suck that there was such a big gap between D and C considering this is my second year racing but I want to get faster anyways. What happens if I do get better and start winning? OH NO, I would have to move then right?

The big question is, WHY DO WE DO THIS? For the win? To be better than others to stroke our ego? OR.....To do what we love and have fun. If I go home without hurting myself and finishing, I am happy. If I go home with a quad that is not broke I am ecstatic!!! If I get wood that is even better.

I dont race much anymore, i will start out by saying that. The way I have always understood it was that if a guy is smoking his class to such a level he would be moved up a class and his points adjusted somehow. I am not a race promoter so I really dont know. If it were me i'd go out and race my race and be proud of what ive earned. And at the same time, if your in c class, which is what I run, you should try harder to get to the next level. The gncc thing is where you could find trouble in this sort of thing if he is in a points situation there. My .02

Kevin is an excellent racer who has a god given talent. Also being that he is 17 years old he also has the opinions and wishes for his parents as well. His family was also concerned on which class he should run this year and it was decided that he should run c being this is his first full season. To all the people complaining about him. SHAME ON YOU! This is a sport we love and you have no right to get mad at a young kid for improving himself. When season ends he will advance into the proper class which his skill level has advanced to. Quit eating your pop and tater chips and try getting faster yourself!! Isn't that the whole goal in racing or is getting faster such a bad thing!?

i disagree...that is why there are different CLASSES, for different riding levels (tater chip lovers, etc) if a "C" rider is getting 2nd overall and making better lap times than pro riders, and he is allowed to stay in that class, then why even have classes at all? just start us all in one big class!

To start off with lets look at facts. Listed is his results from the last 4 races of 2008 from IXCR site in C class 16-21: 3,21,8,13. By looking at the results it appears he was an average C class rider. so, why shouldn't he choose but to run in C class! I think Kevin needs to be commended for showing us that hard work, training and desire to win can produce a winning season. I wish Kevin the best of luck and look forward to him wrapping up the points for the season and moving up front. Personally I think that without the xtra traffic he will be a serious contender for the pro's.

I agree Dan.

My season is in the trash, I am thinking of going to the B class for the rest of the year. I might be able to compete or just as well as in my class I am in now.

Did you happen to see the other races he ran that season? He ran good at the ironman. OK... So you mean to say if you had one good race you're gonna turn pro and rule the ranks against borich? I think not. This season was his first full season of racing. So which class would you run given the results from his previous season??

The rules are going to be updated to help prevent issues like this. The problem is that the rules were set for 2009 and you cannot change them midyear. Midwestxc wants to make the racing as fare as possible. Andy and I have talked about the rules and have some ideas.

Why is there a guy good enough to race and win the Pro class in the Midwest XC, overalling an AM Quad class in the GNCC the day before Badlands??? Sounds like that guy is SANDBAGGING THE GNCC!!! If you race PRO In a local series, GNCC Rules state that you have to at least ride one of the A Classes in the Afternoon race in GNCC!!..... Man Does This Series Attract Sandbaggers Or What??? All Kinds Of'Em!! You can't have things one way and not the other!!!!

Lets just go back to the good'ol days of no classes and who ever wone..Wone!!! There was such a time in the early days of motorcycle racing!! Us younger people have no idea how good we have it. There's a class for everything now!!!
You guys are a bunch of Nancies about some things.. If you think a guy is cheating, send some one out with a video camara on there phone and catch him doen it!! If you can't prove it, dont' make an acuzation!!! Keep your chin up and if some one is doing something you don't like, either beat them at there own game and make them shut up, or catch them doing what ever there doing wrong!!! Complaining gets you no where!!! I believe that the only way to have braggen rights is when you win it fair and square!! Not on a technecality!! But no one ever said there was no such thing as Frontier Justice either!!

Sandbagging a GNCC has no involvement with MWXC. We cannot make our racers run a certain class in other series. And speaking of the "Good ole days" if they where so good that way the why did they all evolve into the series we have today? Because they were unfair in runnings pros with novice riders. As far as sending someone out to catch a guy cheating I'd be all for. You can take a donation to pay for the extra people to make this happen. Better yet you should use it for hooked on phonics so you can learn to spell when you type the obsurd messages. Every series has issues in one area or another. The best thing GNCC has done is to not have a forums site for guys like you to complain on. We can take constructive criticism and actually use it to help our series. This entire topic has been discussed and our classification rules have been updated to prevent AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE!
